Totally different - Istanbul's strong women, is a 30 minute documentary, which potraits four young women going their own way. A feature by Gunnar Köhne in German language. Sabah Yildizi is a documentary about Sabahattin Ali, who was a Turkish novelist, short-story writer, poet and journalist. He was found killed at the Bulgarian border in April 1948.
It is believed that he was killed by Ali Ertekin, a smuggler with connections to the National Security Service.
This is the first part of a video documentary of a man who is visiting Turkey for the first time in his life to meet his wife's family and see the village and country she grow up in. It is a combination of still and motion shots. We enjoyed watching it and hope you will enjoy it too.

Metin Avdac's moving documentary about a Turkish Petrol's small orchestra in Batman that won the "Golden Microphone" in the 60s was now chosen as "Turkey's bet professional produced documentary movie 2010" by the turkish state television TRT. We at Studio Istanbul are very proud that we were allowed to contribute to this great movie by doing the final sound editing and mixdown. The movie has also been screen at several film festivals around Europe.
It will also be screened on "TRT Belgesel" on 12th March 2011, 08:05pm turkish local time. If you have a chance to watch it - don't miss it.
The documentary movie "Based Down South" is now available on DVD. As we were involved in a small part of this movies production we already featured this movie on this blog for a couple of times. After beeing screened on different film festivals and cinemas around the world, a "Grimme Award" nomination and being brodcasted on ZDF German TV you can now watch this wonderfull movie on DVD. The DVD is also available at the German Amazon store. This version includes english subtitles as well.
Some part's of the movie were filmed by the film's crew at Studio Istanbul, of course the parts showing a music studio. And some parts of the movie's soundtrack were also recorded at our studio by Robert F. Kellner. Although we personally weren't directly involved in the movie's production process, we still are very proud that our facilities were used.
The story of the legendary istanbul radio show "The Loser' Club", which was broadcasted in the late 90ies and hosted by Kaan Çaydamlı and Mete Avunduk, is now becoming a movie which will be released on theaters on March 11th, 2010. Nejat İşler, Ahu Türkpençe and Yiğit Özşener are in the leading roles.
Written by the ÖzÖr Duo (Mehmet Ada Öztekin and Tolga Örnek) and directed and produced by Tolga Örnek, this funny, brave and emotional script, is considered as one of the most attractive movies of the new season.
